More and more Philippine electronics companies and engineering schools are visiting the Electronic Product Development Center (EPDC) facility located at EPDC Building, MIRDC Compound, Gen. Santos Avenue, Bicutan, Taguig City Philippines.
The Electronics Product Development Center (EPDC) is a project of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and part of the state-of-the-art facility investments for Transformative and Enabling Technologies under the DOST’s Technology-based Inclusive Growth Program, the “Smarter Philippines”.
The facility aims to strengthen the local electronics and semiconductor industry by enabling local companies, start-ups, and the academe to conduct their own initiatives for research and development (R&D), design and prototyping of electronic products. EPDC is equipped with global industry standard CAD tools and a facility for PCB design and prototyping, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Safety test facility for clients that require compliance testing for EMC and Safety standards. It houses a 10-m semi-anechoic chamber for the EMC test.
Aside from PCB design and prototyping, EMC and safety test, the facility also offers other test services such as Thermal Imaging, RoHS testing, Logic Analyzer, Signal Analyzers, and RF Vector Signal Generators.
The program was initiated in late 2012 on a Php 268,466,997.59 funding from the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) and implemented by DOST-ASTI. The facility was inaugurated on July 14, 2015, and started its operation in 2016.
Just recently, electronics companies from different sectors have visited the facility. Analog Devices Philippines, Sharp Philippines Corporation, Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines Corporation, DX Antenna Marketing, Elecs Design Works, EMS Components Assembly, Incorporated, and SunEtrike have been impressed with the services and capability of the facility. Western Mindanao State University and Asia Pacific Colleges from the academe have also visited EPDC.
There are more and more established electronics companies, engineering schools, research and development companies and start-up electronics companies that have expressed their desire to visit the facility and utilize the equipment and services for their electronics projects and activities.
