The Electronics Product Development Center (EPDC) participated in the Trade and Industry Development’s “Innovationeering Philippine Industries through 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing” held last March 13 at the Legazpi Ballroom of the Makati Diamond Residences in Makati City.
The event focused on Additive Manufacturing, also known as 3D printing. It featured interconnectivity and overall integration of the physical, digital and biological world.
Under the Advanced Manufacturing Research & Development program of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), an Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMCen) will be established wherein government, industry, academe, researches, and innovators can collaborate in developing, designing, prototyping and testing new materials and product design for a wide range of applications.

The program consists of two projects. One is the Development of Multiple Materials Platform for Additive Manufacturing (MATDEV) and the other is the Research on Advance Prototyping for Product Innovation and Development using Additive Manufacturing Technologies (RAPPID – ADMATEC).
MATDEV will be implemented by the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) and will undertake the research and development of materials for advanced manufacturing using local and indigenous materials. The RAPPID-ADMATEC will be implemented by the Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) and will handle product innovation through rapid prototyping of new and innovative product designs and ideas.
