The Electronics Product Development Center (EPDC) participated in the Philippine Board of Investment (BOI) and BMW sponsored event “Become A BMW Supplier: Information Session and Business Matching Opportunity” held at The Peninsula Hotel, Makati City, June 19, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The BOI headed by Mr. Napoleon Concepcion, BOI Governor, takes the lead in the promotion of investments for both local and foreign investors to venture and prosper in desirable areas of economic activities such as the automotive market to which BMW is well-known for.
Mr. Carsten Mueller-Deiters, Purchasing Director for BMW Group Thailand & International Purchasing Office South East Asia talked about the insights and challenges for the new automotive economy and the direction that BMW is moving forward to the years to come. Mr. Paulino Mendoza, Global Processing Purchasing Manager, BMW Group Thailand & International Purchasing Office South East Asia, explained BMW’s purchasing policies and the criteria to become a BMW supplier. Characteristics such as production process excellence, quality management systems over whole supply chain, proven R&D engineering capabilities, professional logistics and information technology systems, keeping best personnel record onboard, English fluency and accessibility, compliance to labor law and human rights, sustainability awareness in environment friendly products and processes and close proximity geographically and virtually to BMW were highlighted. There will be potential supplier screening, bidding and supplier nomination and lastly, development and delivery in the global sourcing process.
EPDC took part in BMW’s global sourcing process as it has demonstrated in the past the company’s capability to do automotive electronic equipment design, development, tests, integration, pass international tests for radio frequency interference and product safety, shortening the overall time to market, and improving response to internal customer needs.
